AlphaSense names Samantha Greenberg as Chief Financial Officer
AlphaSense has appointed Samantha Greenberg as Chief Financial Officer, adding a former hedge fund founder and finance executive to its senior leadership team.
Greenberg will report to Founder and Chief Executive Jack Kokko and oversee financial operations, capital markets strategy, and investor engagement. She joins as AlphaSense expands internationally and strengthens its finance leadership.
Her background spans technology, asset management, and public markets investing. Most recently, she served as chief financial officer at ID.me and previously held the same role at Mint House.
Earlier in her career, Greenberg held leadership and portfolio management roles at Citadel, Goldman Sachs, and Paulson & Co. She also founded Margate Capital Management, which became the third-largest female-run hedge fund in the US, according to AlphaSense.
The appointment follows recent senior hires including Julie Lecocq and June Boon, underscoring a growing focus on financial oversight and capital planning as the business expands.
AlphaSense now serves 7,000 enterprise customers worldwide. Its client base includes nearly 70% of the S&P 500, 90% of the S&P 100, more than half of the Fortune 500, and all of the world's top investment banks.
The company sells AI tools for business and financial research. Its platform combines artificial intelligence with a library of more than 500 million public and private business documents.
Finance role
Greenberg joins at a time when AI companies are under pressure to pair growth with tighter financial discipline. For firms serving large corporate and financial clients, the finance function is becoming more critical as investor scrutiny and competition intensify.
At AlphaSense, her remit includes strengthening financial infrastructure and operational processes. The role appears to extend beyond accounting and fundraising into the systems and planning needed to manage a larger international business.
Kokko called Greenberg a key addition to the executive team.
"As we continue to scale rapidly and expand our leadership in applied AI, Samantha is the ideal CFO to lead the next phase of our capital strategy and as a key partner for me and the executive team," said Jack Kokko, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, AlphaSense. "Her experience with building quantitative forecasting and operational rigor while scaling technology companies, alongside her deep perspective as a public market tech investor will be invaluable as AlphaSense continues to scale and create enduring shareholder value."
Career path
Greenberg brings a mix of operating and investing experience that is relatively uncommon among finance chiefs at software companies. In addition to her executive roles, she has served on the board of directors and audit committee of CSG Systems and on the AI & Analytics Advisory Board of the Wharton School.
Her appointment also reflects the growing overlap between finance, software, and AI in corporate research markets. Providers across the sector are trying to deepen relationships with large institutions seeking tools that help analysts and executives process large volumes of information more quickly.
AlphaSense has been expanding its use of AI in workflow automation for financial and corporate research. Its products include Generative Search, Generative Grid, and Deep Research, designed to help users find and analyse information across large document sets.
Greenberg said she had used the product before joining the company.
"I'm thrilled to join AlphaSense at this pivotal moment. AlphaSense is powering a new era of agentic workflow automation across business and finance, and, as a long-time user, I've experienced the unmatched power of its AI platform to automate research and analysis from data through decision. I look forward to partnering with Jack and the executive team to help scale AlphaSense through this next phase of hypergrowth and build long-term value for its worldwide customers, employees, partners, and investors," said Greenberg.
