April has expanded its Integrated Tax Platform with tax planning insights based on client-authorised IRS tax data, in an update aimed at wealth management firms.

The added functions allow advisory firms to use tax transcript data alongside April's IRS-approved tax engine to build more detailed tax planning for clients. The approach is designed to give advisers a broader view of a client's finances and highlight planning opportunities tied to past and current tax information.

The move reflects a wider push by wealth managers to bring tax analysis into more parts of the client relationship, rather than limiting it to annual filing work. Firms are seeking ways to use tax information during onboarding, financial planning and ongoing account management, according to April.

Access to historical tax data can help advisers assess situations involving equity compensation, concentrated stock holdings, Roth conversions and estimated tax payments, the company said. The platform is intended to place that information inside existing adviser software and workflows rather than requiring firms to adopt a separate system.

With client consent, April retrieves IRS tax data and processes it through its tax engine, which filed more than 1.4 million federal and state tax returns in 2026.

Ben Borodach, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of April, said the new functions are intended to address a longstanding challenge in obtaining and using tax information in advisory work.

"Advisors are increasingly expected to deliver highly personalized guidance. Doing so effectively requires access to accurate, comprehensive financial information," said Ben Borodach, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of April.

"Tax data is one of the most valuable sources of holistic client insight, yet it has historically been difficult to access and apply at scale. For many American families, gathering and sharing tax information with a financial advisor can be a frustrating, time-consuming process that makes it harder to take full control of their financial lives. By combining client-authorized IRS data with our tax engine, we're helping firms turn tax data into actionable planning opportunities while making it easier for clients to securely access, share and use their tax information to make informed financial decisions," Borodach said.

Broader push

April positions the latest product changes as part of a broader effort to make tax data a regular input in financial advice. Its platform allows advisers, tax professionals and clients to work from a shared source of information throughout the year.

The business focuses on embedded tax tools for wealth management firms and says its system supports both tax filing and year-round planning. It also offers integrated practice management features and workflows that connect clients, advisers and tax professionals on one platform.

As a sign of its scale, April said it processed more than one million federal and state tax returns during the 2025 tax season across more than 50 partners. It also said its tax engine became the first in 15 years to receive full IRS e-file authorisation in 2025, joining 10 other providers nationwide.

The expanded tax data functions are available through the Integrated Tax Platform and require little implementation work for firms, according to the company. That may appeal to wealth managers looking to add tax analysis without changing core systems.

Raj Doshi, President and Chief Operating Officer of April, said many firms now see tax as central to a more comprehensive advisory model.

"Wealth management firms are increasingly looking to deliver family-office-level service at scale, and tax plays a foundational role in making that possible," said Raj Doshi, President and Chief Operating Officer of April.

"For too long, taxes have been treated as an annual, retrospective compliance event instead of a year-round planning opportunity. By making tax data more accessible and actionable, we're helping wealth management firms create more connected client experiences and deliver advice that is proactive, precise and personalized," Doshi said.

April said it has raised USD $80 million from investors including QED Investors, Nyca Partners and Team8.
