Docusign founder joins artius.iD board to boost digital ID security

Thu, 6th Nov 2025

artius.iD has appointed Court Lorenzini, founder of Docusign, to its Board of Strategic Advisors.

This development follows a period of expansion for artius.iD, as the company works to address the increasing need for digitally secure and resilient identity management solutions in the face of developing AI-driven threats. Lorenzini's addition comes after several other notable board appointments in recent months, including Lieutenant General (Ret.) Ross Coffman of the U.S. Army, Stefan Krause, former Chief Financial Officer of BMW Group and Deutsche Bank, and Burton M. Goldfield, former Chief Executive Officer and President of TriNet.

Lorenzini is recognised for his more than thirty years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor, and advisor within the technology sector. He became widely known for co-founding Docusign in 2003, which contributed to the development of digital trust and e-signature platforms. Prior to Docusign, Lorenzini also founded Point.com and NetUPDATE, the latter of which was a fintech platform focused on secure online payment systems.

artius.iD has recently announced a number of strategic partnerships, including collaborations with real estate investment platform Tirios and consumer brand distribution firm Pod Foods. These partnerships signal the company's continued growth in sectors where data security and trust are critical.

Lorenzini's appointment reflects the company's response to rising demand for reliable methods to combat increasingly sophisticated identity fraud, particularly as artificial intelligence has enabled more complex cyber threats. He is an active venture investor and advisor, counting organisations such as the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee Foundation and various emerging AI and SaaS companies among those he supports.

Joining an experienced board

Lorenzini joins an advisory board comprised of professionals across several sectors. Lieutenant General (Ret.) Ross Coffman brings experience from the U.S. Army, while Stefan Krause's background covers leadership in large automotive and banking organisations. Burton M. Goldfield, previously at TriNet, also contributes knowledge of executive and operational leadership.

Michael Marcotte, founder, Chairman, and CEO of artius.iD, said: "Court has a real track record of building and scaling category-defining companies. He helped transform how people think about trust online and brings a wealth of experience that will be hugely valuable as we continue to scale.

His ability to make complex trust technologies usable and scalable for mainstream markets will be a huge asset as we strive to meet rising demand for sophisticated digital ID solutions in an increasingly complex security landscape."

Lorenzini's previous business ventures include FounderNexus, a community for venture-scale founders established in 2024, alongside wider advisory roles in both nonprofit and commercial ventures.

Court Lorenzini, Strategic Board Advisor at artius.iD, added: "Trust underpins everything we do online. More so now than ever before, as AI-enabled cyberthreats become more prolific, and deepfakes become increasingly sophisticated.

I've spent my career focused on how to make trust digital and scalable - and I'm genuinely impressed by the approach that artius.iD is taking. Their work in decentralized identity management is setting a new standard, and I'm looking forward to working closely with Michael and the team as they continue to chart a bold, new path in the digital identity space."

artius.iD's technology employs quantum-resistant encryption and verification methods, seeking to remove the reliance on traditional passwords. These measures support the aim of improving both security and ease-of-use for clients across various industries, including financial services, real estate, and consumer goods.

Michael Marcotte, founder of artius.iD, has previously held roles as co-founder of the US National Cybersecurity Centre and served as Global Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer with EchoStar, a company focused on satellite communications and Internet services. Since leaving EchoStar, Marcotte has advised several organisations spanning government, technology, and venture capital, with memberships on the boards of the National Cybersecurity Centre's Rapid Response Centre and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, among others.

Lorenzini's appointment underscores artius.iD's intention to expand its expertise and capability in a rapidly changing technology landscape, focusing on secure digital identity solutions to address modern security threats in both public and private sectors.
