Gemini & Apex to distribute crypto event contracts

Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions have signed a letter of intent to distribute Gemini's crypto event contracts through Apex's futures business. The arrangement would make Gemini the exclusive regulated venue for those contracts within Apex's brokerage network.
Under the proposed deal, brokerages using Apex's Futures Commission Merchant for crypto event contracts would route execution and clearing through Gemini Titan, a Gemini subsidiary. That would give Apex's brokerage clients access to a regulated crypto prediction market without having to build direct exchange links themselves.
The agreement is focused on crypto event contracts, though it could also support work on other contract types on a non-exclusive basis, including sports, economics and financial markets.
Gemini's role in the arrangement depends on regulatory approvals secured by two subsidiaries. Gemini Titan received a Designated Contract Market licence from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission in late 2025, allowing it to launch prediction trading. Gemini Olympus obtained a Derivatives Clearing Organisation licence in April, bringing clearing and settlement for Gemini Titan in-house.
The tie-up builds on an existing relationship between the two groups. In July, Gemini launched zero-commission stock trading for some US customers, using Apex Clearing Corporation as custodian and clearing broker.
The move reflects a broader push by crypto companies to anchor new products in established market infrastructure and regulatory frameworks. Prediction markets have drawn increasing attention as exchanges and brokerages test whether retail and institutional investors will trade contracts tied to political, economic and other real-world outcomes.
For Apex, the proposed arrangement would widen the range of products available to brokerages on its network. It serves hundreds of clients and supports digital investing for tens of millions of end investors through its custody, clearing and trading systems.
Gemini, founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has been expanding beyond spot cryptocurrency trading. Alongside digital asset products, it has moved into prediction markets and equities, using licences held by its subsidiaries to broaden the services it can offer through partners.
The companies have not announced final terms, and the letter of intent does not complete the partnership. Still, exclusivity within Apex's futures distribution channel would give Gemini a defined route into a large brokerage network at a time when regulated access remains a key barrier for newer market categories.
Tyler Winklevoss, Chief Executive Officer of Gemini, said the company deliberately chose to keep its prediction markets platform under its own control.
"Leveraging more than a decade of experience building and operating a regulated platform for crypto, a new and emergent asset class, we deliberately chose to build our predictions platform in-house," said Tyler Winklevoss, Chief Executive Officer of Gemini. "We believe that predictions are the future of markets, and this strategy allows us to expand our offering and open access to valued partners like Apex as demand for event contracts grows."
Apex said the deal would extend regulated market access to brokerages without requiring them to create their own specialist infrastructure.
"At Apex, we've always believed in meeting the market where it's going," said Travis McGhee, Global Head of Digital Markets at Apex Fintech Solutions. "This partnership with Gemini is about building the bridge between traditional finance and what's next. Our brokerage clients get regulated access to crypto event contracts without having to build the plumbing themselves. That's the Apex model."
