J.P. Morgan adds Crunchbase AI to Fusion for private data

Tue, 6th Jan 2026

J.P. Morgan's Fusion data platform has integrated Crunchbase's predictive intelligence on private companies, embedding startup forecasts and risk signals directly into institutional investors' workflows.

The partnership brings Crunchbase's live private-market data and AI-driven predictions into Fusion's cloud-based environment, which many asset managers already use for data management, analytics, and reporting across public and private markets.

Fusion is part of J.P. Morgan's broader push to centralise data infrastructure for institutional clients. It combines information from multiple sources in a single data model and supports analysis across asset classes.

Crunchbase tracks private companies worldwide and applies AI models to a large dataset built over more than two decades. The platform aggregates information on funding rounds, acquisitions, initial public offerings and company growth, alongside engagement data from more than 80 million users.

Private markets focus

Private markets have become a larger share of institutional portfolios, and many investors have expanded allocations to venture capital, growth equity and private credit. The expansion has increased demand for structured information on early-stage and private mid-market companies, which remain less transparent than listed firms.

The integration allows Fusion users to access Crunchbase's AI-enabled forecasts on company funding, M&A activity, IPO prospects and indicators of business expansion. Investors can apply these forecasts in deal sourcing, portfolio monitoring and due diligence.

Crunchbase said the data also includes early-warning signals on company health, such as signs of layoffs, stagnation or potential closure. Investors can map those signals against their existing holdings and pipelines.

Fusion users can bring this information into quantitative models, alerts and reporting templates that already operate on the platform.

Risk and signal

Crunchbase said its models draw on data from more than 1 million subject-matter experts, over 80 million engaged users, and thousands of partners. AI systems then refine this information into what the company describes as near real-time intelligence on private firms.

The companies said the new integration would support earlier identification of emerging startups and sector trends. It also offers additional inputs for risk management, as investors look for indicators that may appear before earnings releases or media coverage.

Data from Crunchbase can sit alongside other market, reference and portfolio data that investors already maintain in Fusion. Users can then run cross-asset analytics using a single environment.

J.P. Morgan has positioned Fusion as a managed data service for institutional investors seeking to consolidate information and reduce bespoke integration with individual providers.

Crunchbase, which began as a startup database within the venture ecosystem, has expanded its focus beyond dealmakers to include corporate go-to-market teams and wealth managers. It describes itself as a predictive intelligence solution focused on private market movements.

Commenting on the partnership, Crunchbase said investors face information gaps in private markets as activity grows and deal cycles shorten.

"In today's noisy and opaque private markets, foresight is everything," said Jager McConnell, CEO of Crunchbase. "Crunchbase pairs nearly two decades of company-tracking expertise with live data and AI to deliver predictive intelligence that helps users uncover opportunities and act with confidence. Our partnership with J.P. Morgan puts this power directly into the workflows of the world's leading investors, enabling them to move faster and stay ahead of the market."

API packages

Crunchbase's contribution to Fusion will sit across three API packages.

The Fundamentals package offers firmographic and financial data on millions of companies, ranging from early-stage startups to large corporates. Investors can query basic company attributes, funding histories and key financial metrics where available.

The Insights package provides analyses of private market activity. It focuses on surfacing trends and shifts in areas such as sector momentum, geographic patterns and investor participation in deals.

The Predictions package contains AI-based forecasts around funding events, growth trajectories, acquisitions, IPOs and potential risk events. Institutional users can feed these forecasts into screening tools, scenario analysis and monitoring functions.

Existing Crunchbase API customers can access their current tier directly inside Fusion. They do not need to build or maintain separate connections.

J.P. Morgan said the integration extends the network of partner data providers inside Fusion. It expects further additions as institutions seek broader coverage of private assets and alternative strategies.
