Proofpoint appoints Joyce Kim as Chief Marketing Officer to boost AI focus
Proofpoint has appointed Joyce Kim as its new Chief Marketing Officer, tasking her with leading global marketing and communications strategy. She will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Sumit Dhawan as Proofpoint aims to grow its presence in human-centric cybersecurity and data security operations amid increasing adoption of AI technologies in the enterprise sector.
Leadership focus
Kim steps into the role following a sequence of senior marketing positions at major technology companies. Most recently, she held the position of CMO at Zscaler, a cybersecurity company, overseeing its worldwide marketing and communications activity. Prior to that, Kim served as CMO at Twilio and Genesys and held marketing leadership roles at Wrike, Arm, Google, and Microsoft. In addition to her executive appointments, Kim sits on the board of directors at Quicklogic and non-profit organisation Bring Me A Book at the Stanford Centre on Early Childhood.
Strategic direction
Proofpoint expects Kim's experience and expertise to play a central role in its growth initiatives and brand positioning, particularly as organisations confront new risks and opportunities arising from AI-driven changes to workplace operations. The company's plans include intensified focus on client engagement and evolving needs for protecting people, data, and emergent AI agent workflows.
"Joyce brings a rare combination of brand-building expertise and cybersecurity acumen to accelerate our next phase as the defining leader in human and agent-centric security," said Sumit Dhawan, CEO, Proofpoint. "With a proven track record of scaling global marketing engines and a deep understanding of the C-suite buyer, Joyce's experience and leadership will be key to building our brand and momentum as the partner of choice for securing people, data, and AI agents."
Marketing initiatives
In her new role, Kim is expected to direct Proofpoint's efforts around global go-to-market plans, brand visibility, and demand acceleration. She will be responsible for helping to align the company's vision with market needs, particularly as businesses seek security solutions that address heightened concerns brought about by the deployment of artificial intelligence technologies.
"AI is rewriting the rules of business, and security is the foundation that makes this transformation possible," said Joyce Kim. "As CMO, my focus is to amplify Proofpoint's leadership in data security and share our vision for how organizations can innovate safely in the age of AI. Together, we'll show the world that trust-and the protection of people and data-is what fuels meaningful progress."
