Ramp lands multi-year deal with San Francisco 49ers

Ramp and the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a multi-year partnership, with the NFL team also selecting Ramp for expense management and financial operations.
The agreement focuses on fan, finance and business outreach in the Bay Area, while moving parts of the 49ers' internal spending processes onto Ramp's platform.
The 49ers will use Ramp's receipt-matching system for expense management and related finance workflows. The club said the move is intended to give the organisation greater visibility into spending and tighter control over overspend.
Beyond back-office work, the partnership includes commercial and marketing elements. Ramp will feature during the home-game experience at Levi's Stadium, across the team's digital and social channels, and at executive events and hospitality programmes.
The two organisations also plan to create co-branded content and programming for finance leaders and businesses across the wider Bay Area.
Finance link
The deal reflects how finance software companies are increasingly using sports partnerships not only for brand exposure but also as a route into operational contracts with large organisations. In this case, Ramp is pairing sponsorship visibility with a role in the 49ers' finance function.
Ramp said more than 70,000 organisations use its financial infrastructure, ranging from smaller businesses to large corporates, and that its platform handles more than USD $200 billion in purchases each year.
It also said customers have saved more than USD $12 billion and 27 million hours, though the announcement did not explain how those figures were measured beyond noting that total purchase volume excludes bank transfers and non-monetised payments.
Founded in 2019, Ramp has built its business around corporate cards, invoice processing, reimbursements, approvals and payments. It pitches its platform as a way for finance teams to manage spending and close books with more automation in a single system.
Team operations
For the 49ers, the arrangement links a commercial partnership with internal administrative processes, including staff travel and expense handling. That is a common focus for sports organisations, where front-office employees and team staff often incur costs on the road during long seasons.
Guy Cartwright, Vice President, Channel Sales at Ramp, described the deal as both an operational decision and a regional outreach effort.
"The 49ers have built one of the most respected franchises in sports by operating with discipline at every level," Cartwright said.
"They selected Ramp to modernize their finance team's spend and expense management. The partnership also gives us a platform to show Bay Area businesses how modern finance teams operate with greater speed and control."
Chris Steele, Vice President, Controller at the San Francisco 49ers, said the team expects the software to improve both process efficiency and employee experience.
"Ramp shares our commitment to high performance," Steele said.
"Not only does Ramp make our financial operations more efficient, it benefits our staff by giving them easier ways to spend while traveling. We are excited to benefit from Ramp's innovative technology and industry-leading software."
The 49ers are one of the NFL's longest-established franchises and compete in the NFC West. The team says it has won five Super Bowls, along with eight conference championships and 22 divisional championships.
For Ramp, the tie-up adds a prominent US sports brand to its customer list and provides another route into local business audiences in a region where finance, technology and sport increasingly overlap.
