RUCKUS rolls out Wi‑Fi 7 network at LAFC's BMO Stadium

Tue, 3rd Mar 2026

RUCKUS Networks has completed a Wi‑Fi 7 deployment at BMO Stadium, home of Los Angeles Football Club, which it describes as one of Major League Soccer's early installations of the standard.

The 22,000-seat venue now runs a wireless network built around Wi‑Fi 7 access points and an AI-based management platform. The design targets high-density connectivity on matchdays, when large crowds use mobile services simultaneously.

BMO Stadium has become a test bed for venue connectivity in US football, as teams rely on mobile ticketing, digital payments, and in-stadium content. Operators also use connectivity data to track demand at gates, concourses, and concessions.

Stadium build

The deployment uses RUCKUS T670 access points for under-seat coverage, a common approach in large venues that need radio capacity close to fans. It also includes T670SN units in concourses, suites, and club areas.

The T670SN model uses a hyper-directional antenna approach intended to focus signals in specific high-traffic areas. Different parts of the stadium can create different connectivity needs, with concourses and hospitality zones often showing different usage patterns from the seated bowl.

The new network is designed to provide coverage across the stadium and support thousands of concurrent connections, a typical benchmark for venue Wi‑Fi planning during peak periods.

AI management

RUCKUS AI provides autonomous management and optimisation of the Wi‑Fi environment. The system uses real-time analytics, predictive issue resolution, and dynamic optimisation.

In stadium environments, network demand and radio conditions can change quickly as crowds move between entrances, seating, and concessions. Operators also need clear visibility into performance when service issues arise during events.

RUCKUS Professional Services integrated the Wi‑Fi 7 build with the stadium's existing network systems. Large venues often run multiple operational networks alongside public Wi‑Fi, including infrastructure for point-of-sale systems, security, and media operations.

Christian Lau, Chief Technology Officer at LAFC, described the project as a continuation of the club's relationship with the supplier.

"From day one, our vision at BMO Stadium has been to merge world-class sport with world-class technology. Selecting RUCKUS to build the first Wi-Fi 7 network in MLS was a strategic decision to extend our leadership on and off the pitch," said Christian Lau, CTO, LAFC.

"Having partnered with RUCKUS since 2018, we trust their expertise in delivering robust, innovative infrastructure. This network is the backbone for our entire digital ecosystem-ensuring seamless experiences from mobile ticketing and concessions to immersive fan engagement for every one of our 22,000 guests," Lau said.

Commercial context

Venue connectivity has become a competitive differentiator across sports and live entertainment, as clubs and operators push digital engagement and improve throughput at concessions. Wi‑Fi also supports staff operations, from handheld devices to back-of-house communications.

RUCKUS positioned the deployment as a landmark for its Wi‑Fi 7 portfolio in a high-density setting. Bart Giordano, Senior Vice President and President at RUCKUS Networks, described the stadium as a demanding environment for wireless performance.

"LAFC consistently pushes the boundaries of what's possible in sports venue technology. Partnering with them to deliver this landmark Wi-Fi 7 deployment is a testament to our shared commitment to innovation and exceptional fan experiences," Giordano said.

"This installation isn't just about faster Wi-Fi; it's about providing a reliable, enterprise-grade digital foundation that LAFC can build upon for years to come-powering new applications and revenue opportunities that engage a new generation of fans," he said.

LAFC operates BMO Stadium, which also hosts concerts and other events outside the football calendar. The club said it has surpassed USD $1 billion in valuation and is backed by an ownership group with ties to entertainment and technology. That broader events schedule raises the bar for network consistency, as crowd sizes and usage patterns vary by event type.

RUCKUS Networks is part of Vistance Networks, which trades on Nasdaq under the symbol VISN. The company sells networking products and services across enterprise and service provider markets, including wireless access and network management software.

The deployment reflects growing interest in Wi‑Fi 7 rollouts in public venues, where operators weigh the cost of new equipment against rising expectations for fast, reliable connectivity. LAFC and RUCKUS said the network now supports services across the venue during matchday operations.
