Safe Software brings FME Remote Engines to Snowflake users
Safe Software has announced that its FME Remote Engines Service is now accessible on the Snowflake Marketplace, enabling joint customers to execute secure data integration and transformation processes directly within the Snowflake cloud environment.
This move allows for processing times that are up to 30% quicker, providing enhanced efficiency for users managing complex data requirements.
Enhanced integration
The integration offers customers the ability to run FME data processing workflows inside their own Snowflake environments. This reduces reliance on external systems and targets improved performance and security. Snowflake and Safe Software have worked together since 2019 to help businesses migrate to Snowflake and connect with a wide range of enterprise systems. With this expansion, customers can access the FME Remote Engines Service natively within Snowflake, which supports high-performance computing and advanced data processing needs.
Data diversity
The FME data ecosystem is notable for its support of thousands of data systems and formats. These include LiDAR point clouds, cloud-optimised GeoTIFFs, scientific datasets such as NetCDF and HDF5, as well as advanced building information modelling and CAD files. The new integration is designed to help organisations manage and unify large-scale, varied data types for business intelligence and analytical purposes.
Enterprise benefits
By consolidating FME data processing inside the Snowflake platform, enterprise users can streamline data flows and reduce the potential security risks of moving sensitive information across disparate platforms. Both companies stated that the new deployment model aims to help organisations make better-informed business decisions by making their data more accessible and actionable.
"This is an important step as we extend value for our shared customers, enabling enterprises to more confidently modernise their systems and bring life to all their data," said Don Murray, CEO, Safe Software. "Harnessing the power of data and AI is critical for all organisations today, and the expanded Snowflake and Safe Software integration will enable users to leverage the best that both platforms have to offer."
Partner perspective
Snowflake said the extended offering is intended to address the evolving needs of organisations adapting to rapid changes in artificial intelligence and data management. Customers using Snowflake's AI Data Cloud are expected to see increased choice and flexibility when processing and analysing data from diverse sources.
"As our users bring their data to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, while keeping pace with advancements in AI, partners like Safe Software help us deliver choice to customers," said Kieran Kennedy, VP, Data Cloud Product Partners, Snowflake.
"Bringing Safe Software's FME Remote Engines Service to Snowflake Marketplace will help to provide our joint customers with increased access, streamlined data flows, and the ability to make better business decisions."
