Tech Mahindra has launched an AWS Agentic Process Transformation Centre of Excellence to support wider use of agentic artificial intelligence in business operations.

The centre brings together Tech Mahindra's business process services arm with Amazon Web Services tools and cloud infrastructure. Its aim is to help organisations move beyond pilot projects and put AI systems into day-to-day operations.

The initiative will focus on sectors including telecoms, healthcare, banking and financial services, retail, and manufacturing. It also forms part of a broader collaboration between Tech Mahindra and AWS on AI-led process change.

First deployment

The first product developed under the new centre has already been deployed with Target Group, a UK financial services outsourcing provider. The tool, called Collections Guru, is designed to support arrears management through an agentic AI model that autonomously adjusts collection strategies.

Tech Mahindra said the deployment delivered efficiency gains of about 40% in the areas where it was rolled out. The company is using that customer example as an early proof point for a model it aims to repeat across other industries.

"Enterprises are moving quickly on AI, but many still struggle to scale beyond pilots and fragmented use cases," said Birendra Sen, President - Business Process Services, Tech Mahindra.

"With the AWS APT CoE, we are bringing together Tech Mahindra BPS' process expertise and AWS-native AI capabilities to help customers operationalize Agentic AI with stronger governance, faster execution, and measurable business impact," said Sen.

Target Group also described early results from the collections tool.

"Since introducing the Collections Guru agent, we're seeing encouraging early results, including anticipated efficiency gains of around 40% in the areas where it's been rolled out. It's been a valuable step in how we're modernising our operations," said Katie Pender, Chief Operating Officer, Target Group.

Scaling AI

The launch reflects a wider effort by service providers and cloud companies to turn interest in generative and agentic AI into operational programmes tied to specific business processes. Many large companies have run AI pilots over the past two years, but moving those tests into broader production has remained uneven.

Tech Mahindra is positioning the new centre as a structure for governed delivery at scale rather than experimentation alone. In practice, that means building repeatable models for use cases in business process operations where companies want lower handling times, better decision support, or more consistent execution.

AWS framed the partnership in terms of joint learning and process redesign. "In a time of rapid technological change, a Centre of Excellence becomes the anchor that helps partners and customers learn together, deliver value faster, and reimagine business processes with confidence," said Chandra Pinapala, GSI Director, AWS.

Market pressure

The move comes as technology services companies seek to capture a larger share of spending on AI implementation rather than basic experimentation. For firms such as Tech Mahindra, that creates an opening to combine consulting, process knowledge, and cloud relationships into more narrowly defined industry tools.

Business process services is a natural focus for that push because it involves structured workflows, large datasets, and measurable outputs. Collections, claims, service support, and back-office functions are among the areas where suppliers see scope for AI systems that can make or recommend decisions within set controls.

Tech Mahindra said the centre would expand opportunities for AWS-based AI services and support delivery models built around industry-specific applications. The company employs more than 146,000 people across 90 countries and is part of the Mahindra Group.

The early customer example came from the financial services sector, where arrears and collections workflows are often labour-intensive and closely monitored. In that context, a reported gain of around 40% provides a clear benchmark that Tech Mahindra and AWS will need to match to drive broader adoption of the new centre.
