Testlio expands AI testing push & appoints new CEO
Testlio has expanded its push into AI-based software testing, alongside a leadership change and new customer activity in streaming, healthcare, and fintech.
The Austin-headquartered firm has appointed Summer Weisberg as Chief Executive Officer after serving as Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO. It has also rolled out a set of AI tools under the LeoAI Engine name and launched a partner programme with a group of technology and services firms.
Testlio runs a managed testing platform that combines automated analysis with a network of external testers. The business focuses on identifying software defects and release risks across different devices, locations, and user conditions.
AI testing tools
Its LeoAI Engine draws on more than 13 years of testing data, including a dataset of more than 2.6 million test cases and insights from more than 600,000 devices.
The LeoAI Engine includes LeoMatch, which assigns testers to projects using signals such as skills, geography, and device information. Another product, LeoInsights, focuses on reporting and analysis across quality assurance data. Testlio says it can cut manual analysis and report creation time by up to 90%.
Testlio is also offering a service it calls End-to-End AI Testing. The work assesses AI-based applications and checks for failures linked to agent behaviour, safety, and security. The push reflects a broader shift as product teams add AI features while keeping release cycles short.
Kristel Kruustük, Founder and Board Director, described the approach as a combination of AI and human judgement. "2025 was a defining year for Testlio," she said. "We've built something unique: a platform that combines the intelligence of AI with the irreplaceable judgment of human testers across the globe. As our community grows, our AI becomes smarter and the value we deliver to customers multiplies."
New Chief Executive
Weisberg takes over as software teams adopt AI-assisted development practices that can accelerate the pace of code change. The trend has raised the profile of testing and release management, particularly in sectors where failures can interrupt revenue, trigger complaints, or affect safety-related decisions.
During her time as Interim CEO, Weisberg tightened strategic focus and brought in new executives. "Our next chapter is about scaling what makes Testlio different. We will continue investing in our AI-powered platform to bring speed and efficiency, while empowering our global community to apply human judgment, context, and insight where machines cannot. That combination is how we will drive Testlio's next phase of growth," Weisberg said.
Customer activity
In streaming, Testlio pointed to work with Hallmark+. It said its testing identified and escalated dozens of critical issues ahead of release and estimated annual savings of USD $1.34 million based on avoided revenue loss and support costs.
Michael Bradshaw, Director of Digital Systems at Hallmark Media, described the impact on service quality. "Working with Testlio has been a game-changer for us. Their deep testing expertise and collaborative approach help us identify issues early and keep the streaming experience seamless," he said.
In healthcare, Testlio highlighted its role in testing epocrates, a medical reference application owned by athenahealth that it says is used by more than 1 million healthcare providers. The work focuses on release speed and reliability for clinicians who rely on the product in day-to-day decision-making.
Lisa Filemyr, Executive Director of Engineering for epocrates at athenahealth, linked software quality to clinical use and working patterns. "The Testlio partnership has been invaluable to us. In healthcare, quality directly supports patient care. We serve providers making critical clinical decisions, and they need reliable tools they can trust," she said. "Testlio's global community means testing happens 24/7, even when my teams aren't working."
In fintech, Testlio said BitPay used its services while expanding a crypto payments platform into additional markets and currencies. It said it built test plans that accounted for network variability and blockchain state, with testing across more than 50 local currencies. It reported a 15% reduction in customer-reported issues and stabilised customer satisfaction scores.
BitPay Product Design Lead Brittany Christopher emphasised the operational flexibility of the relationship. "Testlio is a fantastic partner! We love the flexibility we have when planning and executing," she said.
Testlio also referenced work with Paramount tied to release activity around the second most-watched Super Bowl in history. It did not provide commercial terms or technical details on the scope of the engagement.
Partner network
Testlio has introduced the Testlio Apex Partner Program. The programme includes fintechs, agencies, and technology providers, with founding partners listed as Innowave, BrowserStack, and Bugcrowd.
Its tester community includes more than 80,000 vetted testers across more than 150 countries and more than 100 languages. Testlio also cited coverage across more than 600,000 devices and 800 payment methods. It says the model gives clients access to testing across a wide range of real-world conditions as it expands its AI tooling and partner ecosystem.
