Intuit has launched a business credit card for small businesses in the United States, integrated with QuickBooks.

Running on the Mastercard network, the card is aimed at businesses that use QuickBooks to manage accounts, expenses and cash flow. Opening the card creates a dedicated account within QuickBooks and connects it directly to the software's bank feed.

Transactions, receipts and statements sync into QuickBooks automatically. The system is designed to reduce manual reconciliation and improve visibility over spending.

The launch adds a credit card to Intuit's existing funding products for businesses, which already include lines of credit, term loans and invoice financing through QuickBooks. It also reflects a broader push to bring more financial services into its accounting platform for small businesses.

Approved customers can begin using a virtual card within minutes and add it to a digital wallet for in-store purchases. Physical and virtual cards can also be issued to authorised users, with spending limits and controls set for individual employees.

Rewards are a central part of the offer. Cardholders will receive unlimited 2% cash back on everyday purchases and 5% cash back on Intuit products and services, including QuickBooks and Mailchimp. The card has no annual fee.

Intuit is targeting small businesses that want to keep business and personal finances separate while maintaining a view of outgoing payments inside accounting software. Applications will not affect personal credit scores.

Another feature is automated receipt matching. Receipt images can be linked to the corresponding transaction in QuickBooks, which Intuit says should help businesses keep records organised for bookkeeping and tax preparation.

Spending data will also feed into financial analysis tools within the platform, giving users a clearer picture of how current spending affects future cash flow. Intuit said many smaller businesses still manage spending, accounting and financing through separate systems.

In comments accompanying the launch, Intuit pointed to its own research on the role of external finance in business expansion. The Intuit QuickBooks Small Business Financing Report found that businesses using financing were nearly twice as likely to be in an active growth phase as those relying on personal funds.

David Hahn outlined the company's rationale for the new product.

"The Intuit Business Credit Card gives businesses something they have never had before: a single, connected solution for spending, cash flow, and credit that is built around how their business actually performs," said David Hahn, EVP and General Manager, Services Group at Intuit.

"We know businesses don't have a one-size-fits-all need for capital, which is why we're building a range of capital solutions on the Intuit platform. The Intuit Business Credit Card introduces a smarter way to power business growth with critical controls and value on every dollar spent. This is an important part of Intuit's broader commitment to building the capital solutions small businesses need to grow with confidence," Hahn said.

Mastercard role

Mastercard provides the payments network for the card, giving users access to merchants worldwide. Cardholders will also receive World Elite Business Mastercard benefits, along with fraud monitoring and zero liability protection.

The partnership reflects a common model in business payments, with technology companies using established card networks to extend financial products to customers already using their software. For Intuit, the arrangement deepens its relationship with small business users without requiring it to build its own card network.

Eimear Creaven, President, Global Partnerships, Mastercard, said the companies were responding to demand for more connected business tools.

"Businesses today are digital-first and because of that workflow they are constantly seeking ways to integrate their services - they need partners they can trust to help them address that," said Eimear Creaven, President, Global Partnerships, Mastercard.

"Together with Intuit, we're bringing to market a solution that combines Mastercard's global acceptance, security, and World Elite Business benefits with Intuit's deep understanding of small business finances. The Intuit Business Credit Card delivers on that promise, making it easier for businesses to spend with confidence, operate with less friction, and unlock greater value with every transaction," Creaven said.

The card is available to small businesses in the US and is issued by WebBank. The launch extends Intuit's effort to bring lending, payments and expense oversight into the same workflow used by its QuickBooks customers.
