Sims Crane has appointed Katie MacGillivary as Chief Financial Officer. She is due to take up the role in October.
MacGillivary joins the Florida-based crane and rigging company with 25 years of finance experience across transportation, financing, logistics and energy.
Her appointment comes as Sims Crane looks to expand across the US Southeast, where it provides crane, rigging and lifting services.
Deborah Weber, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sims Crane, said MacGillivary had managed finance functions during periods of expansion and corporate activity.
"Katie brings an exceptional combination of financial expertise, strategic leadership and experience guiding organizations through periods of significant growth," said Deborah Weber, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sims Crane.
"As Sims continues to grow and expand our operations, having the right leadership in place is critical. Katie understands how to build strong financial organizations while keeping people, performance and long-term success at the center of the business. We are excited to welcome her to the Sims family and look forward to the impact she will have on our company's future," Weber said.
Before joining Sims Crane, MacGillivary was Chief Financial Officer at Channel Partners, where she oversaw finance, accounting, payroll, tax, human resources and legal functions.
Earlier, she served as Chief Financial Officer at Nicholas Financial, with responsibility for SEC reporting, investor relations and capital markets activity. She also held finance leadership roles at TECO Energy and began her career at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.
According to the company, she has worked on acquisitions, exit processes and an initial public offering during her career.
Company profile
Founded in 1959, Sims Crane has operated in Florida's crane and rigging market for more than six decades. The business provides equipment for heavy lifting and hauling in construction and industrial projects and says it has the largest crane rental fleet in the state.
Its business is centred on crane rental, rigging and lifting work for customers requiring specialised equipment and project support across industrial and construction settings.
MacGillivary said the company's history and reputation were part of the role's appeal.
"I am honored to join Sims Crane & Equipment and become part of a company with such a strong reputation, history and commitment to its people and customers," said Katie MacGillivary, Chief Financial Officer of Sims Crane & Equipment.
"I look forward to working alongside the leadership team and employees across the organization to build on the company's success and help position Sims for continued growth," MacGillivary said.
MacGillivary is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida and a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Central Florida.
She was recognised as a Tampa Titan 100 honoree and was previously named CFO of the Year.
At Channel Partners, where she served as Chief Financial Officer from 2019, she led a broad administrative portfolio beyond core finance, including tax, payroll, human resources and legal oversight.
Her tenure at Nicholas Financial added public company reporting and investor-facing experience, while her time at TECO Energy and in accountancy firms gave her exposure to regulated and advisory environments.
The company said MacGillivary had led numerous acquisitions, multiple exit processes and an initial public offering during her career.
